About Black and Wanderlust™
Born from a conscious decision to leave the conventional behind, Black and Wanderlust™ represents a life reimagined.

In 2017, our family stepped away from teaching careers and the pace of New York City to follow a conviction we could no longer ignore. What began as an act of obedience became the foundation for a platform centered on global exploration, healing, entrepreneurship, and meaningful connection.

Black and Wanderlust™ is both archive and offering — a living record of transformation and a resource for those seeking depth over distraction. Here, stories are preserved, wisdom is gathered, culture is explored, and tools are curated to support intentional living.
As the platform has evolved, so has its focus. What began as travel documentation has grown into a space for spiritual formation — where walking by faith is not passive, but practiced. Through essays, faith lessons, practical applications, and guided reflection, Black and Wanderlust™ invites readers to participate in their own becoming.
This brand exists for those who feel called to more — more alignment, more faith, more courage, more ownership of their narrative. It affirms that reinvention is possible, that obedience can open doors, and that a life rooted in purpose is worth building slowly and well.
Experience is valued over excess.
Connection over consumption.
Intention over urgency.
Onward and upward.

About the Founder
SMG is an educator, author, storyteller, photographer, graphic designer, and artist — and the visionary behind Black and Wanderlust™.

With a foundation in teaching and a life shaped by faith, her work exists at the intersection of instruction and inspiration. Through her writing, she explores spiritual formation, marriage, motherhood, identity, and intentional living — offering not only reflection, but practical insight and guided engagement.

Through her photography, she captures movement, memory, and transformation. Through her design work, she creates meaningful pieces that blend art, culture, and empowerment into everyday expression.

Living abroad expanded her understanding of patience, resilience, growth, and divine timing — themes woven throughout her essays and creative work. Every lesson she shares, every image she captures, and every design she creates is rooted in authenticity and guided by faith.

SMG believes walking with God is an active practice — one that requires courage, discipline, and imagination. She writes to document the journey and to invite others into their own.

We have already been granted permission to be magnificent.
How much we embody is up to us.
